You're invited to spend a Long Morning in the company of Longplayer, at London’s only lighthouse.

The third in the series of open social events at the Lighthouse in 2023 is a Long Morning, taking place from 10am to 2pm on Sunday 27th August.

From 12pm-1.30pm join current and past trustees of Longplayer to hear about the collective practice of looking after a long term artwork

What is Longplayer?

Longplayer is an everlasting musical composition, repeating once every 1000 years. It began playing at midnight on the 31st of December 1999, and will continue to play without repetition until the last moment of 2999, at which point it will complete its cycle and begin again. Conceived and composed by Jem Finer, it was originally produced as an Artangel commission, and is now in the care of the Longplayer Trust.

Longplayer can be heard in the lighthouse at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London, where it has been playing since it began. It can also be heard at several other listening posts around the world, globally via a live stream on the Internet, through an iOS app and occasional live performances.

What is this series of events?

Since June 2023, the Longplayer Trust is hosting open social events on the last Sunday of every month, at the lighthouse in Trinity Buoy Wharf.

These events are hosted by the Longplayer Trust. We invite you to join us at any point between 10am and 2pm at the lighthouse and listen to Longplayer resonate through the space. We would like to reflect with you on the ideas inspired by Longplayer, and how we can connect with deep time from where we are now..

All ages welcome – we particularly welcome young people at Longplayer, and are pleased to offer guided activities from 10am to 12pm.

Talk with current and past trustees at 12pm

Access:

Please note there is limited access to the first floor and lantern room of the lighthouse, via very narrow stairs.
