Alice Lawson

Alice is a 2nd year Designer Maker student at Hastings College. Having previously studied painting she returned to education to hone her understanding of materials and is now focussing on the study of body sculptural objects. Utilising a range of mediums including glass, ceramics, print and textiles allows Alice to continue developing her understanding of the viewers’ interaction with the different materials present in her work.

Amanda Pattenden

Amanda lives in Battle, East Sussex and is in the middle of a part time BA(Hons) Designer Maker degree.

Having a passion for the outdoors and all things wild and free, she began foraging wild fibres, random weaving and natural dyeing during the pandemic. By challenging herself, Amanda has attempted to bring random weaving techniques to pewter, to tell the story of that cry for freedom in all of us.

“ I have been amazed at what I could create with the pewter, it has been an intriguing and sometimes challenging journey but so worth it. I have a deep love and respect for pewter and what it allowed me to do to it !”

Sara Lee

Sara lives in rural Sussex and is in her second year of a BA Hons Designer Maker degree at University Centre Hastings. Having spent over ten years as a painter at Rye Pottery. Working in a variety of mediums she is a narrative maker and responds to the environment around her both personally and from the wider world. For Pewter Live 2022 her work has considered the joy and freedom of year round sea swimmers and difficult conversations.
