The Prince's Foundation

Future Textiles London

Future Textiles is a project based at Trinity Buoy Wharf, initiated by HRH The Prince of Wales, who listened to the needs of the textile industry wishing to address a skills gap.

Catering to school pupils aged 11 – 17 in East London, their four step curriculum is specially designed to deliver core sewing construction skills in manageable increments. Students are taught sewing precision, pivoting, zip insertion, how to line products and garments, how to attach bias binding, top stitching, appliqué and digital embroidery.

They also offer free community sewing classes for adults who are residents in Tower Hamlets and Newham. They cover everything from garment construction to repairs, upcycling and working with patterns.

All materials are provided and sessions are free of charge.
