SS Robin move to Trinity Buoy Wharf: timings & route

Everything you need to know about the SS Robin journey home this Sunday December 10th 2023.

Important note: the following timetable is subject to weather conditions on the day. Please check our socials (Facebook, X and Instagram) for the latest updates before setting off to Trinity Buoy Wharf on Sunday morning.

Update (Sunday Dec 10th): We have set off as planned this morning. We will pass the King George V lock at 9am so some time between then and 11 am we'll arrive at Trinity Buoy Wharf.

  • When: Sunday December 10th 2023
  • Timings: it is expected that SS Robin will depart the Royal Docks between 7.30am and 8.30am, reach the King George V lock at 9am and arrive at Trinity Buoy Wharf between 10am and 11am. The timings are approximate.
  • Best viewing point: you’re invited to watch the SS Robin arrival from the quayside at Trinity Buoy Wharf. The Orchard Café based on site will be open from 9am to 4pm this Sunday serving hot drinks and various hot lunch options.

Preparations for the move

Horns going on the pontoon in preparation for the move. These horns will be attached to the piles at Trinity Buoy Wharf, allowing the pontoon and the ship to stay stable during high and low tides.

Did you know?

The move to Trinity Buoy Wharf takes SS Robin back home to the Orchard Yard on the River Lea where she was built by Mackenzie, MacAlpine & Co in 1890.
