Four 2m high lightboxes are forming a rainbow of bodies at Trinity Buoy Wharf arts quarter in East London as part of the cultural response to Coronavirus. The installation Perception I-IV, by locally based artist Ju Gosling aka ju90, was originally created in 2003 in response to Matisse’s series of castings, Nu de Dos (Backs) I-IV. The light boxes have previously been shown at Sadler’s Wells in London, the Bluecoat in Liverpool and at the View Tube by the Olympic Park.

Ju explains: “As an artist, I have wanted to contribute to the images of rainbows, and to this weekend’s Lockdown and Light project where artists across the UK are lighting up their homes. However, as someone shielding in a dense urban area, it hasn’t been practical for me to go outside. I’m delighted that the TBW team have been kind enough to take this work out of my storage unit there and install it for me. Thanks are also due to Arts Council England, who originally funded the work, and to Tate Modern who facilitated the project’s development.”
The installation is displayed at Trinity Buoy Wharf as part of "Lockdown and Light" art project, celebrating temporary light installations made by artists in their homes across the world.
