The Institute for Performing Arts Development(IPAD) at University of East London opened its new dance facility here in 2009. With this new facility UEL has its first dedicated dance space for teaching and learning, research and performance for its dance provision. The new Dance Centre is a significant move forward in developing UEL's mission as a hub for both acting local and thinking global within the creative communities of East London. IPAD Dance ProgrammesIPAD is home to dance courses which focus on Urban Practice and are dedicated to the dance styles found within our city environment. BA (Hons) Dance: Urban Practice Building on the diversity of East London, this programme offers an approach to creativity, technical development, historical knowledge and professional development in street, contemporary and global dance styles. MA Dance: Urban Practice UEL's postgraduate programme builds upon the ethos of urban practice incorporating the cross-cultural nature of East London. It focuses on a practice-based approach to research, allowing for development of choreography and performance in an academic setting. FacilitiesThe new IPAD Dance Centre at TBW includes a large dance studio space, a new dedicated classroom space, as well as office facilities.
