Faraday SchoolThe school offers a first-class elementary education for boys and girls laying a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy and spoken communication on which all later development depends. The ethos is firmly grounded in Christian values but we welcome and embrace children from all faith backgrounds or none. The not-for-profit New Model School Company opened its third, low-fee independent primary school in September 2009, following the popularity of Maple Walk School and Stephenson School in North West London. Mrs Sarah Counter has been appointed as its first Head. It was here at Trinity Buoy Wharf that British scientist Michael Faraday carried out his work on the improvement of lighthouses when he was working for Trinity House. In celebration of this, the school is called the Faraday School. The same characteristics which have made our other schools so popular are found at Faraday School: small class s; committed, high-calibre staff; a concentration on strong basic skills; an emphasis on knowledge; high expectations of behaviour, manners and respect; and a fully involved parent body. The curriculum is broad and stimulating. The Faraday School has opened with children in Reception and Year One. Next September there will be classes for all Key Stage One Children, and depending on demand possibly a Year 3 class. Fees of £6,135 per annum will be achieved by keeping tight control on costs and having modest premises. The quality of the education provided will not be compromised - a crucial factor in ensuring Maple Walk is so hugely oversubscribed. There is additional pre and post school provision, as well as a transport service, for students living north of the Thames River. There is now a ferry from North Greenwich for those from the south. All these are all charged at cost. As with all schools in the UK, the school will be registered and inspected under the aegis of Ofsted and has to meet all safety and educational requirements. | Head TeacherMrs Sarah Counter ContactFaraday School, 020 7719 9342
